It’s September, and a ton of notable new spots have opened up. Here’s a brief rundown of the places to keep in mind the next time you’re planning a night out:

Five Leaves: Heath Ledger’s bar just opened in Williamsburg. It’s supposed to be a casual cafe with a lot of good beers and greenmarket-driven bites. My guess is it’s going to be super scene-y, so you’ll probably want to hit it up right now, or in 6 months when the buzz crush has died down. UD wrote about it on Friday.

White Star: Sasha Petraske, the guy behind cocktail spots like Little Branch and Employees Only, rolled out this tiny, highly-anticipated Absinthe tribute bar to much hype a little bit ago. Stepping away from his previous formulas, Sasha elected to only serve sipping spirits, wine and beer: you won’t find any fancy mixings here. But I believe he does have his own brand of absinthe specially made for this occasion. It’s definitely going to be the city’s go-to absinthe spot.

Apotheke: I can’t wait to check this one out. Run by Albert Trummer, this place just takes cocktails to a whole new level. The cocktail menu is divided according to apothecary-like sections such as “health and beauty”, “aphrodisiacs” and “euphoric enhancers”, the mixologists/”apothecaries”/bar chefs/bartenders (for christ’s sake) use homemade solutions from beakers etc to mix up your drinks. Apparently, if you tell them you’re feeling a certain way, (“my girlfriend thinks my hyperbolic love of carrots is damaging our relationship”) they’ll pour you a remedy catered to your needs… I don’t know. Definitely worth a look-see though. Only problem is, they’re playing the uber-exclusive card with vip cards or keys or something and a tight door. Shouldn’t be that much of a problem…

Char#4: 300 whiskeys by the glass. enough said. Oh, and they’ve got southern-influences small plates/bar bites. Plus the place looks super cosy. And it’s in BK!

Chloe 81: This place looks gorgeous, not to mention totally up my alley: subterranean lounge, french food, late-night, sexy atmosphere…. love it. well, can’t wait to love it once I finally get there!

“Your latest underground drinking den isn’t visible from street level. Just find your way down some ratty steps and into a shiny, white-tiled cocktail station, with red booths, downtown hipsters and stiff drinks. It captures the subway look perfectly…but thankfully they went a different direction with the smell. ” – UD

Double Crown: This place is going to be super hot. It’s designed by Avroko, the team behind Public and Stanton Social (among many others — everything this design team touches turns to gold) and Kizzle was lucky enough to go on a f+f night last week – she wasn’t completely bowled over, but hopefully it’ll get better. The opening’s been really anticipated and coverage has been fairly competitive, which usually happens when a place is going to be actually good. Or overhyped. The food is colonial English (wtf. i know. I have no idea what Tandoori Foie Gras is going to taste like), and there’s a lounge attached, Madame Geneva.

UD’s take: “The lively front room feels like the perfect summer patio brought inside: a huge, lofty space with exposed brick walls, unfinished wooden tables and a veritable indoor garden. The bar extends into a communal table perfect for the party, but if you’re looking for dinner a deux, squirrel her away to the set-off back with white-paneled walls and a more intimate feel.”

OK, I think that’s enough to keep you all occupied for now!
